Luke 23:45 Eclipse?

According to Tertullian, Cyril of Jerusalem and others, the darkening of the sun at the crucifixion had the appearance of a solar eclipse. Julius Africanus noted that a solar eclipse could not occur at passover since the sun and moon aren't positioned correctly in relation to the earth. Julius Africanus also mentions that Thallus in the third book of his history indicated that the sun was eclipsed at the crucifixion. If the sun was eclipsed at the crucifixion, it wasn't eclipsed by the moon. More info is available from the notes in The Comprehensive New Testament: http://www.cornerstonepublications.org/prod01.htm
