The word play between the Hebrew words for “Jesus” and “save” occur in the Gospel of Matthew before Jesus is born and when He dies on the cross.

Matthew 1:21 And she will give birth to a son, and you shall call his name Jesus {“Jesus” Yeshua (ישו״ע)}, for he will save {“Save” yushua (יושיע)} his people from their sins.

Matthew 27:49 The rest said, “Let him alone. Let us see if Elijah will come to save {“Save” yushua (יושיע)} him.” 50 And Jesus {“Jesus” Yeshua (ישו״ע)} cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up his spirit.
