The First Words Spoken by Jesus

www.CornerstonePublications.org

The first words spoken by Jesus that are recorded in the Bible are:

"Why did you seek me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father's house?" - Luke 2:49

Those words are still relevant today. Are you seeking Jesus? He’s in his Father’s house. I hope to see you there one day!

Luke 02:49 … “Why did you seek me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?”

In the four gospels, these are the first words depicted as spoken by Jesus. The setting was inside the temple and Jesus who was twelve years old at the time was speaking to Mary and Joseph. Jesus’ first recorded statement was Messianic in nature and preceded the start of His ministry by eighteen years. Jesus returned to the temple at both the start and the end of his ministry and purged the temple each time. During the first purging of the temple, Jesus’ also referred to the temple as His Father’s house.
