“Again it is written, ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’”

“Again it is written, ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’” – Matthew 4:7

If you truly believe that God is with you, then you don’t need to take a leap of faith to prove that God is with you. You already know that you are standing on a firm foundation.

Matthew 04:07 … “Again it is written, ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’”

According to Matthew, Jesus spoke these words after the second temptation. Jesus was quoting Deuteronomy 6:16. Luke 4:12 is a synoptic gospel parallel. A similar passage is Isaiah 7:12 which occurs two verses before one of the most famous Messianic prophecies in the Old Testament.

Isaiah 7:12 But Ahaz said, "I will not ask, and I will not put the LORD to the test." 13 And he said, "Hear then, O house of David! Is it too little for you to weary men, that you weary my God also? 14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, a young woman shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Jesus didn’t need a sign that God loved Him, Jesus was the sign that God loved the world.
