John 01:26 Do you know the One?

In John 1:26 John answered, “I baptize with water; there has stood One among you whom you do not know.

In Matthew 28:5, the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. 6 He is not here; for he has risen {“Stood up” (עמד)} as he said.

The Hebrew word for “stood” (עמד) pronounced amad - also means “rise.”

Before Jesus’ baptism many people who stood next to Jesus did not know Him. After Jesus stood up from the grave many people came to know Him. After all when you light a lamp you don’t put it under a basket, but stand it up. And it gives light to all in the house.

*Matthew 28:5 Do not be Afraid

In Matthew 28:5 when the women were standing in front of the door to the open tomb, the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified.”

When the doors of the tombs are opened don’t you want to hear, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified?”
