Are the Gospels True? The Forensic Evidence by J. Clontz

Are the Gospels True?

It’s a common misconception that the advancements of modern science have somehow unraveled or discredited the central claims of the Gospels. But let’s look at the facts. Scour the shelves of the world’s libraries or search the vast expanse of the internet, and you’ll find no peer-reviewed scientific study that debunks the accounts in the Gospels. No one has produced conclusive evidence that Jesus of Nazareth didn’t walk this earth. No researcher has disproven the wisdom found in the Parable of the Good Samaritan. And despite centuries of scrutiny, no one has ever established that the resurrection didn’t happen. The evidence simply doesn’t support the notion that the Gospels have been scientifically disproven.

Many people are surprised to discover the compelling scientific evidence supporting the truth of the Gospels. In these pages, I investigate the existing forensic data surrounding the Gospels, examining a wealth of archeological, geological, and geographical findings that point toward their authenticity. Among the evidence is a published study from the Geological Society of America, documenting the earthquake that shook Jerusalem at the moment of Jesus’ death on the cross. I bring to light historical records—including the testimony of a first-century historian, a confidant of Herod Agrippa II, who encountered Jesus during His trial—that offer fascinating insights into the Gospel accounts.

The claims about the kingdom of Heaven found in the Gospels come under close scrutiny here, as I explore not only theological concepts but also tangible evidence suggesting the existence of the kingdom of Heaven. I tackle controversial topics such as prophecy, miracles, and the resurrection—delving into first-century courtroom testimony of a post-resurrection appearance of Jesus to a non-Christian witness. The investigation even extends to modern cases, such as two videotaped exorcisms observed by a credentialed psychiatrist.

Throughout this book, I utilize a range of investigative and scientific methods to analyze the claims of the Gospels. This includes a mathematical model developed by a renowned physicist to evaluate one of the Gospel’s extraordinary assertions. Drawing from diverse fields of scientific research, I present an overwhelming body of forensic evidence—evidence that, when examined objectively, powerfully supports the truth of the Gospels.
